Mini-Medical School Starts!  January-April 2012

Twice a month, Dr Warner will be presenting "Mini Medical School"---a series of lectures which will explain the underlying cause of different medical conditions and current thoughts on treatment, both conventional and integrative/holistic approaches.  She finds that during the course of her day, a lot of time is spent explaining disease mechanisms, showing the complex interactions of one body system with another, and describing how and why certain interventions work.  Since she is a firm believer that if someone knows why they're doing something, there's a better chance they'll actually do it, Dr Warner decided to do this as a group.  Hence, MIB's "medical school", a chance for everyone to learn together.

One can sign up for the whole series or specific topics of interest to you.  In case of inclement weather, alternate dates will be arranged.  Class begins at 7pm.  Individual talks cost $10 each; the series of 8 classes costs $60 if prepaid prior to the first class.  Costs are not refundable and non transferable.

The Schedule:

January 10:  If in Doubt, Start With the Gut

January 24:  Inflammation and It's Consquences

February 21:  Oxidative Stress--Your Body Rusting!

Yin Yoga
Taught by Sally Miller. Yin yoga, unlike most hatha yoga, focuses on stretching the connective tissue, rather than conditioning muscles. Yin energy is passive, calm and restorative. In this class, postures which are similar to those found in a yang/hatha class are modified in ways to be held for up to 5-10 minutes each. This allows for stretching of the connective tissue and stimulation of the meridians that run through them. Some people say that after a yin class, they feel as though they've had a massage or acupuncture.

Friday evenings 5:30-7:00.  Save money by preregistering for a 4 week series; drop ins also available.  Please call to preregister if you can.
